ODP Region I Trip to Costa Rica a Great Experience for Toms River Galaxy Players
As the snow was piling up here in New Jersey on February 6, 2010 Chris Thorsheim and Chris Miller were on their way Costa Rica to compete in the International Festival with the ODP Region I 1994 team.
The boys played against the top Costa Rican professional club academy teams Heridia, Saprissa, Brujas and Alajuela. Chris Thorsheim was chosen captain for all 4 games.
The team trained at the Costa Rican National Team grounds, while enjoying the country’s culture with Costar Rican dancers, white water rafting and also enjoyed a professional match between Alajuela vs. Brujas where they witnessed first hand the passion of the fans outside the U.S.
"This is an exciting time for the US Youth Soccer ODP Boys 1994 regional teams as they have worked throughout the past year to advance through their state and regional programs to hopefully have the opportunity to be selected for this international event," U.S. Youth Soccer ODP Boys chairman Brent Mangus said. This was the 3rd international trip for Chris Thorsheim as he previously made 2 trips to Italy with the Region I team, and the first international experience for Chris Miller.
